The tension is not right on the upper and lower loopers. The troubleshooting tells me to loosen the tensions but they're already at 0! If either the upper or the lower looper are any tighter than 0 it gets so hard to pull the thread and it eventually breaks. Any thoughts on how to fix this? Does it need to be serviced? Let me know if you want me to post a pic.
Thanks in advance!

since it's been sitting in the box for a long time the tensions could be stuck. try turning them. This could loosen the tension.
Give the serger a cleaning through the discs. then take waxed floss and run it through the discs. If this doesn't help. It needs to be serviced. Sitting can freeze things up. hope this helps.

You can also use 4 different colors of thread to make it easier to see which color is the problem, thread with pressure foot up and floss between the tension disks. A machine sitting that long needs good cleaning and oiling prior to use.

What kind of floss do I use between the tension disks? Dental floss?

However, I realized that the machine only has a narrow/rolled hem presser foot and plate! Can you believe it. A regular/standard set was not to be found anywhere. I contacted the seller and she was baffled as she had never used the machine and bought it new. Has anyone heard of this happening before? Is this why my machine has a DW at the end of the model number?
I have a feeling that I won't be able to do a lot with it until I get a standard set for regular serging. I was able to find a new needle plate, but I haven't been able to find a new presser foot. Any ideas?
(Oh and I tried to watch the VHS that came with it and it was so old it didn't work in my VCR. )
